Over eight days and nights Melbourne’s streets and theatres will be transformed through the dynamism and celebration of jazz music. The 2009 Melbourne International Jazz Festival invites families, jazz enthusiasts, emerging artists, and first-time concert goers into a rich program of more than 65 performances: From old world swing to contemporary jazz, avant-garde, modern improvisation, art music and beyond. Throughout the Festival the city will come alive in a musical celebration bringing together the iconic artists of our time from Australia and around the world.
